Grandmas Love This

Just sayin’.

Like She Cares….

Even though she’s so little she barely knows what’s going on, I’m pretty excited for Quinn’s first Christmas. So excited that I took the kids to buy a Christmas tree BY MYSELF rather than wait until Kyle was around. (You guys know we live on the 2nd floor, right?) I also made them pose in front of it in Christmas jammies almost immediately. And even though they both made silly faces, I think it’s pretty cute. Christmastime turns me into a ridiculous creature, especially now that I have TWO (2!) kids.

What should they wear to meet Santa? Excuse me while I go obsess about it.

New England

I went on my first trip. And boy, was it an exciting one. On Thanksgiving day, Mommy, Daddy, Jude and I packed ourselves into the car and headed for Meema’s house. After taking a break there, we got back in the car and caravanned up to Aunt Julie’s in Massachusetts for a delicious feast. We had a great day. I got to wear a very spiffy outfit and make my first baby friend - a cousin named Anabella. I can’t believe I’m going already going places where I’m the youngest person there. Sigh. I’m getting old. (The picture above is to show off my chins, which seems apropos for the holiday season.)

After everyone’s turkey coma wore off the next day, we got back in the car and headed up to Maine where Grandma lives. Even my mommy, from upstate NY, was in awe of just how country it was. There was a giant pond and snow and so little cell phone service that Mommy said there was a red circle with a slash over where the bars usually are. Grandma had many callers while we there, so there were lots of people visiting who came over to hold, snuggle and love me. Including Uncle Max. (Jude told me how cool he is. He was right. He bought me a reindeer outfit that’s awesomely cute. Score.)

I have to be honest- Grandma and Bob’s house was awesome. So much cool stuff to look at it (including silly, and I do mean SILLY pictures of my daddy) and do. However, I was most enamored with Grandma’s voice and the constant snuggling I got. I gave her a lot of smiles to remember me by. I heard talk of us going back in the summertime. I’ll be even cooler by then, if I do say so myself. And I’ve proven myself to be a great traveler so far, so it’s on!

So, my first Thanksgiving was a success. I hope next year I’ll have a few teeth and will be able to eat a little real food. The only food adventure I took this year was drinking 4 oz from a bottle and while that was new and different and all, it’s no mashed potatoes. (No offense, Mommy.)

Fortnight

I’ve been trying to post this for days. Three days to be exact, because QED has now been out of the womb for 17 days. But this above picture, which makes me laugh because I swear she’s trying to avoid eye contact so I won’t annoy her, was taken on Quinn’s 14th day mark. She’s a good baby…. as far as babies go, that is. She started off a pretty stellar sleeper, but has since decided that her bed sucks and the hours between midnight and 6:00am are for wingeing, squirming and imbibing very large quantities of breast milk. But we’re going to give her a few more chances to prove herself before dropping her on the church doorstep across the street.

She’s been out and about a good amount because Mommy likes fresh air and people. I would even venture to say that she thinks the grocery store is her second home. We’ve had a really good time food shopping in the afternoon; mostly because old people love to marvel at her cuteness. We’ve also been to Jude’s school bleachers, a pizzeria, the laundry room, the ATM, a few different drug stores and various places that sell baby clothes.

She’s starting to fill out. And while it’s mostly in the cheeks some of the adorable outfits she has are starting to fit a little better. Nobody panic or anything, but she now owns a pair of jeggings that Meema bought her. If there was no other reason to have a baby, little jeggings just might be enough. Also stay tuned for her first tutu. (Yes, I realize that I’m ridiculous. I know you’re thinking it, but I don’t have to be told.)

Speaking of ridiculous (and awesome), Daddy is working on her first Halloween costume right now. Seriously, people, stay tuned. You won’t be disappointed. Who knew she had such a crafty daddy who would so enjoy making them matching outfits? Well, maybe we all knew. Regardless, it’s going to be amazing.

I think it might be tummy time.

This is Quinn. She is a little bundle of unadulterated baby awesomeness. She likes long walks on the beach and dirty martinis. Just kidding - she likes boobs and snuggling. We’re pretty impressed with her so far.
